Mr. Murphy and 8000 miles to New York |

When something is not meant to be, then it just isn't. On friday, we started the grading process. More, we tried. But we ran into all sorts of technical problems, unfortunate events started to pile up. Late in the evening, we did not grade one single shoot. That was pretty frustrating.
Fortunately, we were allowed to use the facility the next day. A saturday. And this time, it has worked. What one can do to the picture, what creative possibilities are there, when you have the right tools and the creative people to operate those. We did not quite finish what we wanted, but which project really does reach 100%? Anyway, the digital postproduction process allows corrections anytime. All one need to do is to find the facility, that has the same tools.
On Sunday, I was invited to a lunch. A real french lunch, just amazing. I missed my train to Geneva, because I mixed up the trainstations. So I went an hour later. I arrived at an airport hotel, with real french unfriendly personnel at about midnight.
Next morning another Swissair flight brought me to New York. There, I prepared the data and sent it to Assimilate as soon as I could. I hope the data will not be harmed on another 3500 miles of journey.

The editing process. The shaping of the stone into a statue. Stone, that was harvested during the agony of shooting. We fight, argue, but we know, that more and more we are approaching something wonderful.
The work with Raphael is great. He understands a lot about carving, being an extreme carver himself.
As I could not shoot the story, that I had in mind, we needed to find a new one in the 5 hours of footage. And we did.
Thanks to a lot of help from Assimilate, DI-Dea and Lapins Bleus, we can start the color correction on a scratch system tomorrow. We had to speed up the editing, having a day less, than anticipated. We worked almost 14 hour days. It was exhausting, but we are there. Carved will be a very nice piece of 7 minutes.
